GHOST DUBS (D) + MT GEMINI (BE)

Ghost Dubs ist das Projekt von Michael Fiedler (alias Jah Schulz) und steht für extrem minimalistischen, düsteren Dub-Techno, der die Grenzen zwischen Dub, Techno und Ambient verschwimmen lässt. Die Musik zeichnet sich durch tiefe, wuchtige Bässe, spärlich eingesetzte Sounds und eine dichte, oft geisterhafte Atmosphäre aus – geprägt von Knistern, Rauschen und einem dumpfen, „unterwasserartigen“ Klangbild.
Ghost Dubs destilliert die Essenz aus 50 Jahren Bassmusik zu einem hypnotischen, fast abstrakten Sound, bei dem der klassische Dub-Offbeat stets präsent bleibt, aber in ein experimentelles, maschinelles Klanguniversum überführt wird. Die Tracks sind meist langsam, repetitiv und laden zum Eintauchen ein – ein „dunkler safe place für mörderisch tiefe Bässe“. Kurz gesagt: Ghost Dubs steht für radikal reduzierten, atmosphärisch-dichten Dub-Techno, der Dub-Tradition mit moderner, experimenteller Soundästhetik verbindet.

MT Gemini ist Yannick Francks Avant-Dub-Projekt. Er macht experimentelle Musik, die frühe Ska-, Reggae- und Rocksteady-Einflüsse mit avantgardistischen, elektroakustischen Techniken verbindet. Das Wire Magazine kürte sein Debütalbum zu einer der „10 Platten des Jahres“ in der Dub-Kategorie, während Brainwashed es als „transformatorische Zauberei, eine zutiefst lysergische Reise, die Lichtjahre von ihrer ursprünglichen Form entfernt ist“ bezeichnete.
